In February 2021, Firefighter Carl Lewis sadly lost his sister Marie to COVID-19. In her memory, Carl and his fellow Firefighters at Llandeilo Fire Station will climb Penyfan mountain 5 times, totalling 20 miles, in full Firefighting kit along with a breathing apparatus set – wearing this will be an extra 22.5kgs (3.5 stone) on top of their own body weight!
The challenge will take place on 1st August 2021.
All money raised from this fundraiser will go to the intensive care unit at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen, who cared so dearly for Marie when she and the family needed it most.
Carl said, “I really want to give something back to the amazing team of doctors, nurses and staff at this wonderful ward in Glangwili. Not only caring for my sister, when we couldn’t, but also for what they have done for everyone during the unprecedented and difficult times the COVID-19 pandemic has presented them.
He continued; “I hope you can make a donation, no matter how small, in memory of such an amazing wife, mum, step mum, grandmother, sister and a friend to many, in return raising much needed funds for our amazing NHS at Glangwili Hospital.
