If you have a special connection with Pendine, either as a resident, a business owner, a regular visitor or someone who has roots there, you could play a part in history by contributing to a time capsule.
Carmarthenshire County Council are working with WRW Construction Ltd, Llanmiloe School and the local community to create a legacy of records relating to the present time that will be buried underneath a plaque as part of the major development currently taking shape near the seafront.
The idea is for all generations to contribute something that will build a picture of the people and the place of Pendine 2021 that could be opened at some point long into the future.
We’re looking for contributions including images of Pendine, written pieces about local families, current newspaper articles, information relating to the pandemic, business flyers, price lists or menus, information about local clubs and organisations, or even jokes, poems or funny stories – use your imagination, and contribute something that people 50 or 100 years from now would find interesting.
- No confidential information, valuable items, food or perishable goods, or hazardous items
- Ask permission of anyone you are including in photographs or stories, encourage your community to join in and share ideas
Contributions (ideally kept together in one envelope or package) can be dropped off at Llanmiloe Post Office, Morfa Bay Adventure or The Pit Stop, or posted to Pendine Time Capsule, c/o Economic Development, County Hall, Carmarthen, SA31 1JP. Contributions must arrive by Monday, June 28, 2021.
The time capsule will be buried in July – more details to follow.
