A summer pop-up heading to Leeds this summer promises to deliver top-shelf music, cutting-edge food and drink, and a unique, socially distanced setting one may not normally associate with social gatherings.
Multistories kicks off its first weekend on Friday 25th June and will take place at Level 8 Citi Park in the Merrion Centre where up to 350 guests will be able to soak up some rays (all being well) and take in the views of the sprawling central Leeds skyline.
With a selection of eclectic beats from some of the best local DJ talent, and food and drink via table service from some of the city’s heavy-hitting independents, it’s destined to be a recipe for success. Already confirmed for a foodie residency is local legend Matt Healy’ with his all-new Tapas Xperience concept.
Making a splash
The proud Yorkshireman has established himself as one of the hottest chefs in the north since making a splash as a finalist on Masterchef: The Professionals back in 2016 and owns the Scandi-inspired vegan cafe Gron in North Leeds.
And, whilst he has so far remained tight-lipped when it comes to his latest menu, rest assured it will be a feast for all senses.
Sugar rush
Those with a sweet tooth will not be left out either as the Savvy Baker, AKA Savannah Roqaa has signed up to bring the sugar rush. Since she began baking from home back in March 2020 to alleviate the boredom of lockdown, the indulgently sweet baked goods care packages she created to cheer up her friends quickly snowballed into a fully-fledged business.
Now churning out over 500 boxes per week, she’s one of the most in-demand bakers in the city with celebrity fans including Leeds United player Kalvin Phillips. Needless to say, she’s got dessert at the pop-up all sewn up.
Multistories is the brainchild of Xperience Partners, recently appointed as an operating partner for the successful Box On The Docks. Located in the heart of the award-winning gardens of Media City, the safe and socially distanced concept has been a hit with those looking to catch up with loved ones during the easing of lockdown.
The aim of Multistories is to maximise the use of space in the city centre that has otherwise gone empty and breathe new life into the hard-hit hospitality industry. The name is inspired by the unique car park setting and the fascinating stories from the people involved in bringing it to life.
Tried and tested
Guests can book tables online, and drink and dine in parties of up to six.
Arron Fishwick, co-founder of Xperience Partners said this ahead of the launch:
”Hospitality has taken some blows over the past 12 months, to say the least, and so Multistories was born to kickstart the industry in Leeds, encourage greener social space and celebrate some of the amazingly talented independents in the city.
‘’Socialising in a car park may raise the odd eyebrow up north, but it’s a tried and tested concept in London that’s been growing exponentially for the best part of a decade. Level 8 will not only allow for some unrivalled views of the city, but some of the absolute best food and drink you’ll find in the UK.’’
‘’We’re honoured to be working with the likes of Matt Healy, the Savvy Baker, and can’t wait to reveal more big names as they are confirmed. With everyone fed up with lockdown, we’re hoping 2021 is going to be the much-needed summer of love we’ve all been craving. We can’t wait to see the people of Leeds join us to make some lifelong memories.”
With table service, a fully licensed bar and several more food vendors and music acts soon to be announced, the concept is poised for great things in summer 2021. Multistories will operate from 4-10pm on Fridays, and between 12-10pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets on sale at 9am Friday 11th June.
