About the role
We are looking to recruit a Rural Towns Development Officer to join our busy Economy and Regeneration Service on a fixed term, full time basis, based at our Aberaeron office.
This is an exciting new role within the service to support the regeneration of Ceredigion’s rural towns and outlying communities. If you have experience in areas such as regeneration, community work, economic development and business, this could be the opportunity for you. You will help shape the future of communities across the county whilst supporting the Council’s ambition to create towns which are thriving, people-centred and resilient places. You will be expected to have a prominent local profile to motivate and foster positive relations with local people and support places that meets the needs and aspirations of the community.
On a day to day basis you will:
- Coordinate, facilitate and manage the delivery of regeneration activity to support the recovery of Ceredigion’s rural areas.
- Actively facilitate the engagement, involvement and mentoring of a range of organisations in the community, public and private sectors to assist with the development of their activities.
- Facilitate the process of bringing forward and presenting potential LEADER activities (working in collaboration with grass roots organisations,) to the Cynnal y Cardi Local Action Group (LAG).
- Organise and facilitate consultation, networking and promotional events.
- Work with local organisations and businesses to access other funding opportunities appropriate to their needs.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to form constructive working relationships with individuals and organisations in the community, public and private sector.
- Ability to think innovatively and strategically.
- Experience of partnership working and developing collaborative opportunities.
- Good mentoring and advocacy skills.
- Communication/presentation skills appropriate to varied audiences.
- Enthusiasm for community based activities.
- Ability to work flexibly, display own initiative and work proactively.
