The Promenade, which sits within The Dorchester, is also home to the most expensive fruit platter in the research – seasonal fresh fruit dish for £23.00. However, this healthy platter and the traditional English breakfast are not the most expensive items on this menu; the lavish hotel restaurant also offers a sirloin breakfast steak which is served with a hash brown and two free-range eggs, and costs £42.00The cheapest item on the menu here is £7.00 for either toast or a bagel.

All of the top 20 restaurants with the most sumptuous breakfast menus are in London, with nine being in the area of Mayfair alone. The first restaurant to feature outside of the capital is The Oak Room at the George Hotel in Stamford, Lincolnshire, placing 27thWith slightly more reasonable prices, the most expensive item on this menu is Eggs Royale. The smoked salmon and poached free-range eggs dish costs just £18.45.

The next two restaurants outside of the capital to feature on the list are The Old Bridge in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, reaching 29th, and Restaurant Tristan in Horsham, West Sussex, which takes the 30th position. Not quite as expensive as some of the London restaurants, The Old Bridge offers a full English breakfast for less than half the price of the most expensive option in London, at £13.00. Similarly, the most expensive dish on Restaurant Tristan’s menu is £10, which is the price for several egg-based options such as Eggs Royale, Eggs Benedict, and more.

Beth Boulton, Head of Marketing at Magnet, says “with restrictions easing and more restaurants opening up, so many of us are looking forward to eating some of our  favourite foods again, as well as treating ourselves to trying new dishes. Whilst there are obvious regional differences in prices, with the average cost of a fry up being £13.49 outside of London but £24.28 within the capital, you can still find that little bit of luxury all over the UK. That’s why we wanted to showcase a variety of restaurants from all over the country that can give us that taste of luxury first thing in the morning.

We all know breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, so we hope our research will help those looking for a little treat to start their day off on the right (and luxurious!) foot.”
