Online shopping is a savings in itself. Large selection, competitive prices, no unnecessary overpayments … However, experienced Internet shoppers know that if you wish, you can save a lot more money by spending a minimum of time. I will share a few life hacks.

1. Discount coupons

I’ll tell you right away – we are not talking about coupon services here. The readers of my blog know that once I actively used them, it was far from always successful. In this case, I’m talking about discounts that are provided by the stores themselves to actively attract customers. It happens that such discounts are not actively advertised on sites and act as if “for those who are in the subject”, but they are.

Of course, it is unrealistic to regularly go to the pages of all online stores you are interested in and look for information and brewdog discount code for a discount. For this, there are special services that aggregate information about discounts in many online stores and allow you to quickly find the positions you are interested in.

I just recently published a review of one such site here, and in this article I will recommend another popular service –

The site also offers discounts exclusive to Cuponation for various marketplaces. Stores are clearly sorted into categories, making it easy to find the one you want. You can also subscribe to discount notifications from stores you are interested in. Keep in mind – promo codes usually have a limited expiration date! In the same section, I note that coupon services like Biglion and Grupon (who recently changed their name to Frendi) are also not unambiguously evil. In recent years, the discount coupon market has become more civilized, with a lot of unscrupulous small players gone. Check the information, carefully read the terms of the promotions, look for reviews, do not get fooled by ridiculously low prices – and many useful and profitable promotions will delight you.

 2. Services for finding the best price

Here I have always preferred Yandex.Market (in Poland there is an analogue – Ceneo.pl). You can also use Price.ru. Typically, the item you want to buy is available in many online stores. Aggregator services help you find the most affordable options. They also have reviews about products and about the stores themselves. Don’t be lazy to read them. As well as not chasing too low a price. Sometimes there are unscrupulous sites, or selling uncertified goods.

3. Cashback sites

A fairly popular topic nowadays is sites that return money to you for purchases in various online stores. What is their benefit? It’s pretty simple. Any online store is quite actively investing in advertising to attract customers. And naturally, these costs are included in the price of goods. And cashback sites, offering customers the opportunity to save money, bring many customers to stores. For this, shops give them generous commissions. And sites share them with you.

Among the well-known cashback sites I can name Ebates.com, which works with many foreign trading platforms. Russian services – letyshops.ru, kopikot.ru, besmarty.ru, cashback.ru. In general, in terms of the assortment of stores and the catalog, they are similar to the above-described sites with promo codes (Lamoda, Aliexpress, Daughters of a Son, ASOS, Ebay, Ozon, Labyrinth, KupiVIP, Booking.com, Labyrinth and many others), only they do not give any codes. It is enough to find a suitable store, go to it using the link from the service, place an order, and later get your percentage. By the way, the percentages reach 6-9%.

4. Payment methods

If you often buy abroad, then ideally it is better to have a separate bank card in foreign currency. This could be an option like Visa Virtuon, a card that can only be used to pay online. In a store – no way, and you can’t withdraw from an ATM. Also a plus – there is no unnecessary temptation to spend money. And most importantly, you save on the fact that when buying, the exchange rate will not be recalculated. For this, they often take a commission.

Also, some services offer the ability to choose a currency conversion method. In particular, this is available on Paypal. If you change the conversion of the payment system to conversion by your bank, you will be able to save a little.

5. Bonus programs

Many banks offer cards with bonus programs. For purchases in stores (or all, or certain – it really depends on the program), you will receive a percentage of the purchase back. At times, it can be quite significant, especially if you follow the current stocks. Or it can be some kind of virtual bonuses that can then be spent on products or services. Examples include the “Thank you” program from Sberbank. Also, cards with cashback are offered by such banks as Tinkoff, Alfa-Bank, Citibank, VTB, etc.

There are also bonus programs by themselves (for example, Mnogo.ru or Malina). Such services cooperate with a wide range of online stores and not only (there are gas stations, cafes, etc.), but for purchases they add points to your account. Then these points can be spent on something useful.

And, of course, many online stores (Yulmart or Sportmaster, for example) have internal bonus programs. For purchases, you are awarded points, which can then be exchanged for a discount. Don’t miss these opportunities.
