The staff and volunteers at one of Swansea’s COVID-19 vaccination centres have received a donation of products from Amazon’s Swansea Bay fulfilment centre.

The Mass Vaccination Centre at Bay Field Hospital is one of Swansea Bay University Health Board’s three Mass Vaccination Centres and neighbours the Amazon site on Swansea Bay.

The Amazon team invited the centre to create its own Amazon Wish List and provided £500 worth of products to support the centre’s staff and volunteers in the daily roll-out of COVID-19 vaccinations. The products donated include a coffee machine, a filing cabinet, lane marking tape, white boards and other administration material.

Speaking on the donation, Omer Kartal, Site Leader at Amazon in Swansea, said:

“The staff and volunteers of Swansea Bay University Health Board are doing an incredible job in helping vaccinate local people during COVID-19 and we wanted to support their efforts with this donation.”

Dr William A McFadzean from Swansea Bay University Health Board, added:

“This support from Omer and the team at Amazon on Swansea Bay is greatly appreciated and we thank them for the donation. Our team is going above and beyond to ensure vaccinations are delivered as safely and as efficiently as possible and this donation will help us along the way.”

The donation was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations in the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than four million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
