Jeff Griffiths a stalwart of West End always sets his teams up to play good attractive football.

West End started this friendly game with a high tempo to their game and pressed the home side at every opportunity.
West End had the experienced Nicky Parvin at right back and he was proving the catalyst for most of the opponents attacking play as well marshalling things in his defensive role. Rangers were doing their level best to match their opponents intensity and tried to break the West End lines with Doyle and Bartley leading the way.
Young Rangers goalkeeper Callum Andrews made a fine save from a long range West End effort but not long after he was powerless to stop a free kick that rattled against his crossbar and the ball rebounded kindly to West End forward Jarrod Lake who stroked the ball into the Rangers goal to give the visitors the lead. The frantic action at both ends of the pitch continued but there were no further goals in the first half and it was the home side that had it all to do in the second half. Rangers looked more positive in the second half and started to pose problems for their visitors but just couldn’t find the cutting edge.
Midfielder Craig Spring came close to scoring as did a few other Rangers players. Meanwhile West End were always a threat and continued to pressure the home side at every opportunity they had. The West End pressure finally told when they were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box.
The spot kick was duly converted making it 2-0 to the visitors. With time running out and Rangers still tying their hardest to pull the game around they won a corner in the last minutes of the game. Jordan Lloyd- Evans took the resulting corner kick which was swung directly into the West End goal, the flight of the ball was totally misjudged by the visitors keeper and the ball went straight in the West End net. 2-1 It was just about the last action of the game as the referee blew the final whistle.
Another entertaining game at Underhill Park. A good work out for both teams. The pre – season action continues for Mumbles Rangers next Saturday 03/07/2021 as they take on Trostre at Underhill Park.
