The Sun came out at Underhill Park and so did the goals, nine in total! Mumbles Rangers and Trostre AFC were forced into changes for this friendly fixture due to players commitments on both sides.

Both teams therefore had the opportunity to give their squads a run out for this game. Rangers had a mix of experience and their younger element.

Trostre hit six goals in this game with Rangers hitting back with three of their own. For the first twenty minutes both teams couldn’t find a way through their respective defences.

The home side thought they had a good shout for a penalty after Rangers centre forward Bartley went down in the penalty area but play was waved on and less than thirty seconds later Trostre’s Jenkins broke away down the left and jinked inside, looked up, picked his spot and curled his shot inside the far post.

A bizarre moment in this game was when a Trostre player angled a shot from distance that for all the world appeared to hit the inside of the Rangers goal inside the far post stanchion.  The Trostre players celebrated, but the match official seemed to be the only one that didn’t see the goal much to the bemusement of the Trostre players, Manager and support.

The incident seemed to spur Trostre on and the pressure finally told on the home defence. For the home side Jake Simone was battling in the midfield ably supported by the versatile Jordan Lloyd-Evans. Both these players got their names on the score sheet for Rangers with well taken goals.

In fact it was Jordan Lloyd- Evans second goal in two consecutive games. However the second half of this game saw Trostre power their way into a commanding lead with a combination of some good shooting and headed goals.

The home side were under constant pressure and conceded a late penalty that was duly put away and left Rangers chasing a consolation goal to reduce the deficit. Overall an entertaining game with both sides picking their plus points from it.

For Rangers, all attention now turns to the Cup game next Saturday when Penlan AFC visit Underhill Park. It should be a cracker with both teams wanting to make Welsh Cup progress.
