Hywel Williams MP criticises Boris Johnson’s “triumphalist Prime Ministerial crash attack” of Covid rules in England
During today’s Prime Minister’s Questions, Hywel Williams MP criticised the Prime Minister’s “triumphalist” approach to easing Covid restrictions and asked for clarity that, on Covid “he only speaks for England”.
The Arfon MP said:
“Many people are aghast at the potential consequences of trashing English Covid regulations in one triumphalist Prime Ministerial crash attack.
“Wales’ regulations to be announced today are expected to take a cautious and measured approach.
“Will the PM make it clear that those visiting Wales this summer must stick to Welsh laws, and that on Covid regulations – he only speaks for England?”
Speaking in a markedly more solemn tone than his usual cavalier rhetoric, Boris Johnson said in response:
“Of course. I think that people should stick to the rules and the guidance wherever they are. I think he’s absolutely right to talk about a measured approach.”
