It’s time to sit back, relax and grab a bowl of popcorn, as we delve into the top casinos brought to us through the magic of movies.

If you enjoy playing live casino at your favourite online casino site, then you’ll know all too well the excitement of an immersive gaming experience. So, let’s take that one step further and enter the world of film, where casinos take centre stage!

Thanks to the imaginative and elaborate stories, these films feature completely made-up establishments. So unfortunately, you won’t be able to visit them in real life, but just like an online casino, you can still be entertained by these fictional casinos from film.

Ocean’s Thirteen: The Bank Casino

The third film in the series, Ocean’s Thirteen features an imaginary casino that’s named after the villainous Willy Bank, played by Al Pacino. In this instalment, the heist focuses on stealing millions of dollars from The Bank Casino in an act of revenge! Rather than breaking into a vault or building, like a typical heist movie, Ocean’s Thirteen actually focuses on the famous and popular slot machine. The characters aim to rig the machines to reward huge prizes to its players, so that the casino is forced to lose money as a result.

The casino is supposedly located in Las Vegas, and the film uses the real-life Palazzo Resort and the Bellagio Casino as the filming locations, to set the scene.

James Bond: Casino Royale

No list would be complete with the suave and sophisticated settings that appear in the James Bond franchise. And of course, the most famous casino to be featured, is the fictional Casino Royale, also giving its name to the film title itself.

The debut novel from Ian Fleming was transformed into a modern movie in 2006, with Daniel Craig playing 007. Originally the book describes the casino as being located in the North of France, but for the movie, it is reimagined to be set in Montenegro.

The filming location used to convey this luxurious casino was in fact in the Czech Republic, with the Grand Hotel Pupp used for the interiors and the town of Karlovy Vary for the exterior shots.

Casino: The Tangiers

A film named Casino inevitably had to feature in this list, and although it’s a story based on true events, the establishment that the film revolves around is actually fictional. Taking place in Las Vegas, where the casino is supposedly set, the main character of Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein (played by Robert De Niro) is hired by gangsters to run the Tangiers Casino.

In the story, the Tangiers replaces the real Stardust Resort and Casino, where the original, true events took place. But for filming, the casino was inspired by two real-life casinos: the Riviera Casino and the Landmark Hotel. Both found in Las Vegas, the first was used for the interior of the fictional casino, and the second was used for the external shots.

Rush Hour 2: The Red Dragon

Starring the iconic duo of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, the sequel in this series creates a fictional Las Vegas casino, aptly named The Red Dragon. The story takes the comedic pair across the globe, and includes a trip to the Red Dragon casino in an attempt to investigate criminal boss, Ricky Tan.

The fictional casino includes plenty of fantastical elements, such as acrobats and dancers, as well as an Asian style. The filming for these scenes took place in the real-life Desert Inn, also in Vegas. It was closed down at the time, which enabled the production team to modify the building to fit the exotic theme of the movie’s casino.
