The campaign, ‘Harry Hydrates Grassroots’, will provide grassroots football teams across the UK with free drinks to ensure that they are hydrating effectively both on and off the pitch.

When grassroots clubs sign up to the initiative, they will also be in with a chance of winning a full year sponsorship for their team, plus a training session with Harry Maguire himself.

To introduce the initiative, Maguire went back to his roots to surprise Brunsmeer Athletic FC Under 8s – the first football team he ever played for – during their training session. Spending the afternoon with the team, both Harry and his brother, professional footballer Laurence Maguire, provided the kids with plenty of tips before taking part in a question-and-answer session with them.

It’s no secret that it’s been an extremely tough year for grassroots clubs. With many teams struggling, the central defender’s aim is to do everything he can to give back.

Discussing the initiative, Harry Maguire said: “Grassroots is where the love for the game all starts. It’s all about enjoyment, and you enjoy it when you’re playing well. But to play well, you need to be fuelled up.

I’ve joined forces with WOW HYDRATE and Tesco to help hydrate grassroots football clubs. It’s been a hard year for grassroots teams, which is why I want to do everything I can to give back. I wouldn’t be where I am now without it.”

Grassroots teams across the UK can sign up to the initiative via WOW HYDRATE’s website between now and August 30th, 2021. If successful, they will receive vouchers for three months’ worth of free WOW HYDRATE Protein water for their team, which they can pick up from Tesco stores between September and November.

WOW HYDRATE’s Co-Founder, Neil Young, said: “As a brand, we are proud to support sports across all levels. We are delighted to have teamed up with Harry Maguire and Tesco on this initiative, who will be helping us to spread awareness of the importance of healthy hydration.”

WOW HYDRATE provides sugar-free, fat-free and low-calorie Protein waters with added vitamins, using a unique push-cap technology. Packed full of flavour while still being healthy, it’s the perfect alternative sports drink to hydrate all grassroots teams.
