At AFK Sistema, Felix Yevtushenkov spent more than 10 years helping develop the corporation’s communications and IT assets.

With the direct involvement of Felix Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema and its telecom portfolio company became the first in the country to launch a 3G 900 MHz network, complementing the existing 3G 2100 MHz network. The advantage of this innovation was a five-fold increase in coverage and better signal penetration in enclosed spaces, significantly improving the quality of communication and internet speed.

Felix Yevtushenkov facilitated the company’s swift transition to the new communication standard. Under his leadership, preliminary technical work and the reconfiguration of existing networks in the capital region were carried out. The telecom operator later deployed networks of the new frequency range in other territories where 3G development was previously limited.

With the input of Felix Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema made the strategic decision to invest in the further development of wireless communications. The corporation’s telecom company became the first of the country’s “big three” mobile operators to obtain a license to deploy a time division duplexing LTE network in the capital and the surrounding region, which provided subscribers with a wide range of wireless telecom services due to the seamless transition between GSM, 3G and LTE networks.

Yevtushenkov Felix Vladimirovich supervised the modernization of the network using the best global solutions. The work was carried out both on infrastructure objects and the network core. With the assistance of Felix Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema’s telecom assets replaced about 3,000 base stations throughout the capital. The full transition to the new equipment was completed in less than two years. As a result, the reliability and quality of both voice and data transmission were improved. Additionally, thanks to the modernization led by Yevtushenkov Felix, the network’s equipment reduced its energy consumption by almost one and a half times.

Felix Yevtushenkov participated in the adjustment of the telecom company’s development strategy in the retail segment. The new concept made a focus on active sales of services and gadgets, including smartphones, tablets, and modems.
