Cardiff Met of the Cymru Premier league had the lead within four minutes of this MG Nathaniel Cup game when Emlyn Lewis breached the Ammanford defence to open the scoring for the visitors.
Cardiff Met were proving a real handful for the the home defenders and it was taking some last ditch defensive play to keep them out. Ammanford keeper Craig Morris made a good stop to deny striker Adam Roscow scoring from close range. However Roscow made amends after 15 minutes when he got Met’s second goal of the game.
Ammanford tried to get a foothold in the game with Kai Whitmore, Trundle and Jenkins leading the fight back in the latter stages of the first half. However Cardiff Met had the upper hand with fullback Matthew Chubb pushing forward at every opportunity supported from the midfield by Thomas Price.
The first half belonged to the visitors and probably they should have taken a few of their gilt edged chances to increase their hold on the game. Half Time Ammanford AFC 0 Cardiff Met 2 The second half followed the same pattern as the first with Cardiff Met dominating the possession and smothering any semblance of an Ammanford revival.
It was only fitting that Cardiff Met’s Matthew Chubb got their third goal when he raced through the Ammanford defence in the 66th minute and got himself on the end of a long pass and then proceeded to place his low shot into the Ammanford net. Cardiff Met continued to press forward and create chances.
Ammanford just couldn’t find a way to break through the lines of the visitors defence. The game was wrapped up in the 86th minute when Cardiff Met’s Christopher Baker followed up on a rebound and had the simplest of tasks of making it four nil. Referee Ben Williams blew the final whistle and it’s Cardiff Met who deservedly go through to the next round. Another healthy attendance at the Recreation Ground to watch this cup tie. Ammanford AFC return to JD Cymru South league action next Tuesday when they entertain Llantwit Major.
