Since hitting our screens on 28th June, new insight reveals how the launch of Love Island 2021 has led to a huge increase in lip filler and weight loss product searches in the UK.
Using Google Trends1 insight, experts from leading pharmacy and aesthetics supplier, Primed Pharmacy reveal a staggering 250% increase in search interest for the term ‘lip fillers near me’ and a 350% increase in interest for the term ‘weight loss coffee’ in the first month of the reality TV show airing. Interest in ‘best diet for weight loss’ has also increased by 80% in the last 30 days.
And it seems the latest round of contestants have sparked many Brits to delve deeper into the process of lip fillers with the following terms also skyrocketing:
-
‘How much do lip fillers cost UK’ – 250% increase
-
‘Do lip fillers hurt’ – 200% increase
-
‘Can you smoke after lip fillers’ – 180% increase
-
‘How long do lip fillers last’ – 90% increase
-
‘How old do you have to be to get lip fillers’ – 90% increase
-
‘What are dermal fillers’ – 170% increase
And it’s no surprise that Brits are searching for this topic as since the show’s launch, there has been an uplift of 33% in the number of google search results for the term ‘Love Island lip fillers’ with many analysing the cosmetic procedures the latest round of contestants have undergone. Google search results for ‘Love Island dermal filler’ have also increased significantly (+1,290%) in the last 30 days.
Commenting on the findings, Qadir Hussain, Chief Executive Officer at Primed Pharmacy said: “It’s really interesting to see the impact shows like Love Island can have on public interest, especially in terms of aesthetics and beauty treatments. On an annual basis, we’re seeing an uplift in interest and searches for aesthetic procedures such as lip and dermal fillers in the UK due to reality TV shows like Love Island.
“Contestants in this year’s show have been heavily scrutinised in terms of people speculating what procedures they have and have not had so it’s no surprise that we’ve seen an uplift in interest on this topic.
“It is concerning to see that since the launch of the programme there has been an increase in searches for weight loss products, especially ‘quick win’ products such as weight loss coffees. This indicates that the show is potentially having a negative impact on body image amongst its key audience.
“When it comes to weight loss and aesthetic procedures, we would always recommend speaking to a medical professional in regards to any questions you have. Be sure to conduct your research to make sure any procedures are suitable for your personal health and wellbeing and ensure your chosen clinician has undertaken the appropriate training.”
