Ashmole & Co have hit a sixer with their latest recruit. The firm is delighted to announce that Lowri Cottey, daughter of famous cricketer, Tony Cottey, has recently started working for the successful accountancy team. Lowri works in the Ammanford office as a Trainee Accountant.
Lowri’s dad had an exceptional innings, playing over 550 games, when he played cricket professionally. He became a professional in 1986 when he joined Glamorgan. He also played for Swansea City and Sussex County Cricket Club. He was the only Welshman to win the Championship with two different counties. Tony retired from professional cricket in 2004.
Before joining Ashmole & Co’s team last September Lowri, from Llanedi, worked for James and Uzzell Accountants in Swansea Vale as a Junior Accountant for three years. Prior to that she worked for Cyfle Building Skills in Ammanford as an Accountants assistant.
Welcoming Lowri to the team, Laura Craddock, Partner in the Ammanford Ashmole & Co office, said, “We are bowled over that Lowri has joined our team in Ammanford. She has fitted in well and is a pleasure to work with.”
As a Trainee Accountant, Lowri’s responsibilities include the preparation and completion of sole trade, partnership and limited company accounts. Lowri also prepares self-assessment and corporation tax returns and speaks to clients on a regular basis regarding any accounts queries.
Lowri said, “I am grateful to Ashmole and Co, who are one of the most established and largest teams of chartered, certified accountants and auditors in south and west Wales, to give me this opportunity. All the staff and partners make it an enjoyable place to work. I find it very rewarding being able to use my Welsh when chatting to clients and am enjoying learning new skills. I’m looking forward to starting college in September to continue my ACCA exams.”
During her spare time Lowri doesn’t have time to play cricket as she has a busy 18-month-old called Brinley. Lowri and her partner, Nick, also have a dog called Pippin so there’s no time to relax!
Lowri works closely with the rural clients of Ceri Llwyd, Partner. Ceri said, “We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals like Lowri, both qualified and non-qualified, to join us. If you feel you have the right qualities please email, with your CV attached, to AshmoleHR@ashmole.co.uk.”
