Adjustable seat Ty Bryngwyn - Marlene Thomas

Thanks to donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities has purchased a high-grade, adjustable seat for the Ty Bryngwyn Specialist Palliative Care Unit at Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.

The Smart seat provides maximum support, can tilt in space and is fully reclinable, with pressure-relieving properties on all support services.

Marlene Thomas (pictured), Specialist Palliative Care Clinical Nurse, said the new chair had made a massive difference for patients who were unable to support themselves.

“This is a high-spec chair and can be individually adjusted to each patient’s needs. It supports the whole body and is of such a benefit when patients have no strength to sit upright.

“Thanks to this chair, we have had patients, who were previously bed-bound, able to spend hours in the chair, sitting outside, doing some armchair gardening, enjoying the fresh air.

“The results have been outstanding and we are very grateful for the donations from the community that have enabled the chair to be purchased.”

Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, Nicola Llewelyn, said: “Donations from our communities are making a huge difference to the lives of patients, service users and staff in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
