Swimwear brand Pour Moi has released four weird and wonderful cocktail recipes that perfectly capture the tastes of the Great British Summer.

With so many of us staying in the UK for our holiday this year, the team at Pour Moi has created a new and unusual way to celebrate the Great British Summer. Teaming up with Hedonist Drinks, the swimwear brand has released a selection of cocktail recipes that capture four of the most nostalgic tastes and flavours of a British summer holiday: Fish and Chips, a ’99 Ice Cream, Burnt BBQ and a Twister Lolly.

Featuring an array of ingredients from apple cider and Mezcal, through to salmon-infused gin, oat milk and pineapple rum, the distinctive yet recognisable cocktails pack a delicious boozy punch.

Fish & Chips Martini

Nothing screams a UK coastal holiday more than being sat in your favourite swimsuit, nibbling on fish and chips and dodging the seagulls. Our Fish & Chips Martini is a sophisticated take on the old seaside favourite (without the seagulls), with unique smoked salmon gin, fresh lemon and a pinch of sea salt.

Ingredients

Smoke Salmon Infused Gin – 50ml
Dill-Infused Dry Vermouth – 25ml
Sea salt – pinch
Lemon zest – teaspoon

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients over ice and stir for 20 seconds

2. Strain into the glass, garnish with lemon and enjoy

Burnt BBQ Sour

We’ve all taken our eye of the barby at some point, so it’s arguable that a burnt sausage or charred burger could actually be a perfect summary of British summertime cuisine. We’ve distilled this distinctive flavour into a cocktail that features mezcal, sugar and apple cider.

Ingredients

Mezcal – 25ml
Lime Juice – 25ml
Muscovado Sugar – 1 tsp
Sweet Apple Cider – to top
Thyme Sprig to garnish

Instructions

1. Combine the Mezcal, lime & sugar into a cocktail shaker

2. Fill with ice and shake vigorously until chilled

3. Strain into a chilled glass & top with cider

4. Garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme

99 Ice Cream Dream

What could be better than a classic 99 ice cream? An alcoholic 99 ice cream, that’s what! With cream and vanilla vodka, this decadent delight will bring back nostalgic thoughts of summer heatwaves and the distant sound of the ice cream van.

Ingredients

Vanilla Vodka – 50ml
Stroopwaffel Syrup – 25ml
Oat Milk – 125ml
Squirty cream – as much as you want
Chocolate flake to garnish

Instructions

1. Combine the rest of the drink ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice and shake vigorously until chilled

2. Strain into a chilled glass

3. Top with squirty cream and chocolate flake for good measure

A Twisted Tipple

A home freezer favourite, this grown-up version of a twisted ice lolly is perfect for kicking back in the garden, bikini on and sun on your skin.

Ingredients

Gin Layer:

Lemon Gin – 50ml
Lime Juice – 50ml
Melon Liqueur or Syrup – 25ml
Rum Layer:

Pineapple Rum – 50ml
Pineapple Juice – 125ml
Strawberry syrup to garnish

Instructions

1. Combine ingredients of each layer separately into a blender with crushed ice and blend, then place in a chilled vessel ready to pour

2. Layer both blends alternating to create a totally new and unique pattern

3. Drizzle strawberry syrup over the top

Michael Thomson, founder of Pour Moi, says “It has been so much fun creating these cocktail recipes. We know our customers love to enjoy a cocktail by the pool on their holidays, so we thought we’d create some new and original tipples for them to try that celebrate the Great British summer holiday. Some of the recipes are a bit out-there, but that’s what makes them so fun – they’ll certainly be a talking point of your summer garden or pool party!”

Alongside the release of the weird and wonderful cocktails, Pour Moi has also launched a 2021 Cocktail Report, which reveals the most Googled cocktail in every country around the world.

The cheekily named P*rnstar Martini is the most searched for cocktail in the world, and is also the most Googled cocktail in the UK. The drink is made up of a passionfruit liquor, passionfruit juice and vanilla vodka, with a chaser shot of prosecco on the side.

Pina Coladas are the second most popular cocktail to Google, and are perfect for a summer party. The classic cocktail, originated from Puerto Rico, and is made by blending coconut milk, pineapple juice and rum with, or poured over, ice.

The distinctive orange cocktail of Aperol Spritz has taken the world by storm in recent years, and is made by combining Aperol, prosecco and a dash of soda water. The refreshing beverage is officially the third most searched for cocktail in the world.
