Responding to the call for defibrillators to be given to all Welsh rugby clubs, Plaid Cymru’s spokesperson for Sport, Heledd Fychan MS said,

“This latest tragedy has highlighted the importance of readily accessible defibrillators.

“Welsh Government has previously acknowledged that Wales has one of the lowest survival rates in Europe for heart attacks outside of hospital settings, and they’ve previously committed to ‘improving public access’ to defibrillators. This case proves there are people ready and able to use defibrillators when they are needed.

“Welsh Government now needs to ensure the availability of defibrillators in more public places in Wales, so that everyone is given the best chance of survival from heart attacks.”
