We are escorting abnormal loads through north and mid Wales to a new wind farm near Crossgate this month.

The loads will travel from Wrexham once every weekday and motorists are being advised to be aware of, and where possible avoid, the route to prevent getting caught in delays.

The route is A483, A5, A483, A489, A470, A4081, A483 and A44 to the Hendy Wind Farm site.

Rough times for each leg of the journey, which as subject to multiple factors that could delay or change them, are:

  1. Leave Wrexham A483 at 0930 – 1030
  2. Arrive at Welshpool at 1100 – 1200
  3. Arrive at Newtown at 1200 – 1300
  4. Arrive at Rhayader A470 at 1345 – 1445
  5. Arrive at Llandrindod Wells at 1430 – 1530
  6. Arrive at site A44 at 1500 – 1600

Brecon RPU Sgt Matthew Thomas said: “The convoys are scheduled to be completed on Tuesday the 28th of Sept 2021, however the 29th of September to 1st of October are contingency days in case the delivery schedule runs over.

“The police escort team are doing everything they can to minimise the disruption to the roads and local communities.  We thank them for their continued patience and understanding. It is our intention to give regular daily updates on the @powysrpu twitter page.”
