This summer’s seasonal pork merchandise, which included mouth-watering recipes and showcased pork cuts, have been a huge success with butchers, pork producers and retailers all over Wales.

Menter Moch Cymru in collaboration with Hybu Cig Cymru once again this summer sent out free, seasonal point of sale (POS) kits out with the intention of inspiring customers to buy more pork from Wales and to try exciting new recipes.

The range of materials sent out to retailers and butchers included 2 seasonal recipes, pork cuts posters and recipe posters, these are designed every year with the intention of encouraging customers to buy pork from Wales and to shop at their local butchers and retailers or direct from producers.

The tasty, mouth-watering recipes on the cards this summer are the chunky pork chops with sage, garlic and lemon, ideal for al-fresco dining and the BBQ season, in addition to instructions on how to make the perfect yolk scotch eggs – perfect for picnics!

Ffion Haf Roberts of TJ Roberts & Son butchers in Bala said:

“The POS kits are very interesting and eye-catching, and the recipes are easy to understand and to cook. It is a great idea that inspires customers.”

Rhys Llywelyn Market Development Manager for Hybu Cig Cymru said: “It is very important that we support local businesses that are the backbone of our local communities by helping them with this kind of promotion.”

“By selling more local meat, be it pork, beef or lamb, local businesses along the supply chain are benefiting. There is also great benefit to the customer as they know that this product is produced sustainably to a high standard and that it tastes special,” he added.

Melanie Cargill Menter Moch Cymru Project Manager said: “We are thrilled once again with the POS kits that were sent out this summer. The posters and recipe cards are eye catching and aim to encourage customers to try some new recipes, using delicious pork from Wales.”

Menter Moch Cymru have worked collaboratively with Hybu Cig Cymru on developing free point of sale kits for business for a number of years. The seasonal

kits are issued to businesses for the summer season, winter/Christmas season and an additional kit for the annual Pork from Wales week. Businesses can contact Menter Moch Cymru to find out how to receive POS kits in future – www.mentermochcymru.co.uk.
