September marks another month for increases in foot traffic and in-store visits to retail, restaurants and entertainment venues, according to the brick-and-mortar marketing experts at Zenreach. They found that across all industries, nationwide foot traffic is up 35.81% since the start of 2021.
Some cities across the country have seen a huge increase, like Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a 294% increase since January 1st, 2021 or Chicago, Illinois, with a 129% increase since the start of the year.

“We saw customer foot traffic flatten in July, but August saw a double-digit deficit nationwide. Decreasing customer visits to both restaurants and retailers will likely continue as concerns over the Delta variant and new restrictions grow.” says Megan Wintersteen, VP of Marketing for Zenreach.
