After almost a 2 year absence of live music and events in Parc Howard, the committee of Parc Howard Association bounced back on Sunday by holding their first open air concert since the outbreak of Covid-19, back in January 2020.

Playing to a crowd of over 350 and in the presence of Llanelli Town Mayor Cllr Mike Cranham and his mayoral party, families and visitors to Parc Howard were treated to a two hour performance by the ever popular Carmarthen Ukulele Band. Dressed in their now famous colourful festival outfits, varying types of headwear, and rainbow flower garlands that were draped across microphones and stands, this was quite simply an event not to be missed. Laughter, music and glorious sunshine broke out at 2.00pm and stayed throughout the whole of the show. To kick-off the concert, the audience was welcomed by Parc Howard Association’s Events Co-ordinator Susanne Thomas. Next, Chairman Philip Thomas quickly added a flavour of history and nostalgia to the event by announcing that is was almost 109 years to the day, that Sir Edward Stafford Howard and Lady Catharine Meriel Stepney gifted the park and mansion house to the town and people of Llanelli on 21st September 1912.

Set against a stunning backdrop of glorious flower beds planted and maintained by the association’s lead gardener David Bannister and his small team of volunteers, the crowd basked away the afternoon while singing along to songs from the 1960’s through to the present day. As a fund raising event for the Parc Howard Association, this was a great success and it was announced that more PHA events are in the planning.
