On Your Marks, Set, Spend: The Cost Of Creating Your Own Bake Off Inspired Kitchen Revealed

Property portal Boomin has revealed that a fully equipped Bake Off-style kitchen will set homeowners back £15,000 or more

With the return of The Great British Bake Off to our television screens, property portal Boomin has calculated how much creating your very own Bake Off inspired kitchen could set you back.

Aside from each year’s bakes, the Hollywood handshakes and the contestants themselves, the Bake Off tent and its many appliances play a key role in every series, with many fans lusting after the KitchenAids and Smeg fridges featured in the show. From the start of September alone, Google searches for ‘Bake Off oven’ have risen, and now Boomin is aiming to help viewers price up the kitchen of their GBBO dreams.

Calculating every ingredient of the famous tent, right down to the £4.00 mixing spoons and £14.95 gingham tablecloths, the researchers used the most up-to-date Bake Off series and Tuesday night’s first episode of series five to cost up the kitchen. Coming in at an eye-watering total of £15,414 when based on an average-sized UK kitchen, the money will buy the very latest in baking technology, including Neff’s iconic Slide & Hide oven and accompanying proving drawer, in addition to the £1,150 Quooker Flex tap.

The £15,000+ kitchen brings home the style too, priced up complete with the shaker-style cupboard doors, bespoke kitchen island and retro duck egg blue fridge.

Michael Bruce, CEO and Founder of Boomin commented: “From the Friends apartment to episodes of Grand Designs, television has been inspiring how we style our homes for years, and when it comes to the kitchen, Bake Off is right up there for sources of inspiration.

But creating a Bake Off inspired kitchen that is going to look the part as well as take your baking to the next level evidently isn’t just going to require a lick of paint and some bunting, with the show using high-end appliances that come at a sizable cost. Whether you are looking to spend big for a full Bake Off kitchen overhaul or simply want to add a few themed choices, the outlay is always worth it when it comes to creating the type of home you’ve dreamt of living in”.

Boomin has created a dedicated inspiration section on its website named the Property Playground to help homeowners connect with designers, products and brands such as B&Q and Wickes to help make their interior design dreams a reality, be it a Bake Off kitchen or an on-trend living room.
