Milly Jerman is planning a massive five marathons in 24 hours to raise money for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Bronglais Hospital.

Milly, 28, from Carno, will be running a marathon, rowing a marathon, skiing a marathon and doing two marathons on a bike – a total of 131 miles in one day!

She hopes to raise money for the Chemotherapy Day Unit as a thank you for “the continued support they are giving to one of my favourite humans, Rhys, in his fight against testicular cancer”. Milly is also raising money in memory of her nanna, for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The challenge will begin on 23rd October, which is the anniversary of losing her nanna, and is also just over a year since her friend had his operation.

Milly said: “I am starting in Carno, and running to Newtown, finishing at NMAC gym, where I will complete the rest of the five-marathon challenge.

“I have been wanting to do something for charity, in memory of my nanna. Then my friend had his fight with testicular cancer, so I knew it was time to do something. Knowing what they both have gone through meant that I needed it to be a big challenge.

“The challenge is huge! I did a marathon about five years ago and said I would never do it again, but this time have decided to do five. I am training currently 8 times a week, around 15 hours a week.”

“I am hoping to raise as much as possible, through a raffle and sponsorship. I am hoping to do a fitness-related raffle, local to Newtown. If anyone or any business would like to donate a prize, I would be very grateful.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said she wanted to wish Milly the best of luck in her big marathon challenge.

The support of fundraisers like Milly enables us to make a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff in the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.”
