More improvement works are planned for Pembrey Country Park as part of a masterplan to continue its development as a major tourism destination within Carmarthenshire and Wales.

Work will be focussed on upgrading the outside area surrounding Yr Orsaf restaurant and hub. There are plans to install a path area with lighting from the restaurant to the car park, extending and upgrading the current patio area and the installation of natural wood play area.

Additional landscaping and planting works will create a more inviting space for visitors whilst providing vital food sources for pollinators.

The campsite entrance will also be landscaped which will improve accessibility.

These latest enhancements come after Carmarthenshire County Council secured funding through the Welsh Government’s Tourism Fund, Brilliant Basics and are part of a £4 million investment into the park.

£1.5million has already been invested in a 320-pitch camping and caravanning site including a new amenity block for guests.

Yr Orsaf, which is in the heart of the park serving hot and cold refreshments, opened in 2019 and is hugely popular with visitors.

Carmarthenshire County Council Cabinet Member for Sport, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes-Griffiths said: “This latest investment is to create the same premium quality externally as we have internally at Yr Orsaf and to give our visitors a better experience. The works will enhance the external area so that people can enjoy and consume food and drink they have bought in pleasant surroundings. We have invested heavily to improve the offer at Pembrey Country Park which is growing in popularity year on year. The park holds a special place in the heart of thousands of local families, and as many visitors from other parts of the world who enjoy coming here for their holidays.”
