Compass Cymru, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, the UK’s largest food and support services firm, has announced a three-year partnership with Welsh homelessness charity, Llamau.
Llamau is one of Wales’ leading homelessness charities, supporting young people and women, and providing holistic support for those most at risk of homelessness, including care leavers, people who have experienced domestic abuse and people who have had disadvantaged lifestyles.
Over the next three years, Compass Cymru has pledged to support Llamau with a mix of event sponsorship, staff engagement, volunteering, work placements and skills sharing. This commitment is launching with Compass Cymru’s headline sponsorship of ‘Sleep Out’, Llamau’s flagship event, which is taking place virtually tomorrow (15th October).
This partnership builds on Compass Cymru’s dedication to nurturing young talent and providing skills and training to improve their future. In a bid to end homelessness in Wales for good, Llamau helps young people and women who are homeless to gain the skills necessary for them to live independent and purposeful lives in their communities. As part of this relationship with Llamau, Compass Cymru will be offering skills sessions around cooking and nutrition, as well as work placements and training in some of their 60 sites across Wales.
Managing Director of Compass Cymru, Jane Byrd, said: “One of the main reasons why we distinguished Compass Cymru as its own business was to support Wales through a regional approach. This means creating Welsh jobs and generating business for Welsh farmers and suppliers, as well as helping charities like Llamau to make a difference in our local communities.
“As a business with a real commitment to apprenticeships and skills development, Llamau’s mission to end homelessness by supporting young people and women is a great fit for us. The work they do to not only provide immediate help to vulnerable people, but to also give encouragement and respect, is such an important part of what is required to finally end homelessness. We cannot wait to get involved in supporting this vital service.”
Llamau’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, Sabrina Sallis, added: “We are thrilled to have the support of Compass Cymru. The work they do to help improve the lives and wellbeing of young people in schools and so many other people across Wales fits perfectly with our values as a charity.
“At Llamau, we truly value our partnerships because they help us to continue running services that ultimately change people’s lives. Without support from partners like Compass Cymru, we could not continue to provide the best and right services to the young people and women we support. Thanks to partnerships like this, we can provide early support to families in need, offer young people and women a safe home and provide the skills for people to live independently. We are proud to welcome Compass Cymru as this year’s Sleep Out event sponsor and look forward to the years ahead.”
Launched as a distinct business in April 2021, Compass Cymru is part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, the UK’s largest food and support services firm.
