A group of children with disabilities supported by Action for Children have enjoyed an exciting evening of paddleboarding on Llandegfedd Reservoir in Torfaen thanks to Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
Action for Children’s Tafarn Newydd Children and Families Service in Torfaen were contacted by Welsh Water as the charity to benefit from their ‘Random Act of Kindness Week’, last month.
Tracey Ball, mother of Harry Ball (10), one of the children who loved his night on the water, said: ‘Without the support of Action for Children, Harry would be unable to access community activities due to the complexity of his needs. The paddle boarding experience was absolutely fantastic for him and something I could have never imagined possible. He loved it so much, especially jumping off, that he didn’t want to return to shore.
‘Seeing him happy means the world to us as a family as we are unable to give him these opportunities. We are grateful to Welsh Water for giving Action for Children the opportunity to access their kind gesture. Thank you!’
Hannah Carpanini, children services coordinator at Tafarn Newydd Children and Families Service, added: ‘We are so delighted Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, chose our service for their Random Act of Kindness initiative. The children loved it and the Welsh Water staff were brilliant with them.
‘It was wonderful to see the kids do things they thought they wouldn’t be able to do on the water. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved and a thoughtful and generous gesture by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, we’re very grateful.’
