Langland Bay Golf Club raises over £9,000 for Action for Children

Langland Bay Golf Club has raised over £9,000 for Action for Children after being chosen by Langland Bay Golf Club captains Ashley Isaac and Sue Joseph as their Captains’ Charity this year. The leading children’s charity runs disability short breaks, family support and community respite services in the city.

Sue visited Ty Laura disability short breaks near Langland Bay to see how a proportion of the money had been spent and learn about the service they provide to the Swansea community. The fundraising enabled the service, that provides respite care and support for children and young people who have learning or physical disabilities and their families, to buy an electric awning and a new table and chairs for their garden area.

Sue Joseph said: ‘We’re very proud to have raised so much money for a charity that has such an important presence in the Swansea area. It was lovely to visit Ty Laura and see how the funds we raised has been spent. The electric awning is very impressive and will provide excellent cover in all weathers for the new table and chairs in their excellent garden. I’m very grateful to all club members, family and friends who supported us in so many different ways throughout our latest charity fundraising for Action for Children.’

Regional Fundraising Manager for Action for Children in South Wales, Nina Rice, said: ‘We were thrilled the Langland Bay Golf Club captains chose us as their charity of the year and to raise over £9,000 is absolutely fantastic.

‘The Covid-19 pandemic has put on an enormous strain on the charity as well as the children and young people we proudly serve so we are incredibly grateful to Sue and Ashley and everyone who supported them. I was also thrilled to show Sue the difference their fundraising really makes to the local community at Ty Laura as it’s important to us to show how the money is spent. It really has made an immediate difference to those who use our services.’
