Transport for Wales (TfW) and their delivery partner Alun Griffiths Ltd were shortlisted and runners-up at this year’s Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards for the new Bow Street station project.
The project, delivered in partnership with Ceredigion County Council and funded by the Welsh Government and Department for Transport, was entered into the category for the Integration and Collaborative Working Award.

The work included construction and reopening of this existing station on the Cambrian Line between Borth and Aberystwyth railway stations. Featuring a new car park, bus interchange and cycle storage, the station will increase accessibility to the rail network, improve transport integration and provide an alternative to the car for journeys.

Funded by the Welsh Government and Department for Transport, the new Bow Street station was delivered by Transport for Wales, in partnership with Ceredigion County Council, and TfW’s delivery partner, Alun Griffiths Ltd.

Karl Gilmore, TfW’s Rail Programme Director, said; “I’m exceptionally proud of the teams for being shortlisted and runners up of this award. The hard work and collaborative behaviours displayed across all areas of this exceptionally challenging project, made more difficult whilst being constructed throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic.

“TfW and partners would like to extend congratulations to the winners of this category, the Dragon’s Heart Hospital, a project that would have contributed towards saving tens of thousands of lives throughout the pandemic.”
