It takes UK parents 24 days, on average, to register their babies’ names

GiftsOnline4U wanted to explore how many days it takes parents to register their baby’s name around the UK. For that reason, they looked at data from the Office for National Statistics, analysing the past five calendar years, from 2016 to 2020. On average, across the UK, it takes parents 24 days to register their babies’ names.

The locations of the UK that are the quickest to register a baby name

• Darlington took an average of 15.78 days.
• Stevenage took an average of 16.14 days.
• Scarborough took an average of 17.38 days. 

The locations in the UK that take the longest to register a baby name

• Leicester took an average of 38.98 days.
• Barking and Dagenham took an average of 37.34 days.
• The Vale of Glamorgan took an average of 36.82 days.

GiftsOnline4U then looked at the regional data on how long it took parents to register their baby’s name between 2016 and 2020, some of their findings were

• The North East, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, took an average of 24.96 days.
• The North West, Liverpool, took an average of 25.88 days.
• The Midlands, Birmingham, took an average of 35.7 days.
• The South East, Southampton, took an average of 18.9 days.
• The East of England, East Hertfordshire, took an average of 21.08 days.
• The South West, Bristol, took an average of 26.22 days.

The Office for National Statistics looked at a total of 331 locations.
