With festive season and Christmas parties just around the corner, I’m getting in touch with new research on the UK’s Best (and Worst Cities) for Eating Out.
Car dealership Brindley Group used TripAdvisor data to discover which cities offer the most highly reviewed eateries – and those which cater best to a range of different diets:
https://www.brindley.co.uk/news/the-best-and-worst-uk-cities-for-eating-out/
For each city, we researched the number of:
- Top-reviewed restaurants (4-star and higher)
- Vegetarian restaurants
- Vegan restaurants
- Gluten-free restaurants
We then balanced number of restaurants against each city’s population, producing comparable per-capita results to reveal the best and worst cities for dining in each category.
We Found That:
- Bath is the UK’s best city for eating out overall, boasting the largest number of highly rated restaurants per capita.
- Coventry and Lancaster were the worst cities for eating out, with just three 4-star+ rated restaurants per ten thousand residents.
- Bath is also the best city for vegetarian and gluten-free diners, while Coventry is the worst for both.
- For vegans, Chester and Bath came joint first – while Bradford and Coventry were the worst destinations.
- Regionally, Scotland is home to the greatest number of highly rated restaurants per capita – while the West Midlands has the fewest.
- As if that wasn’t enough, Scotland is also the best part of the UK for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets – with the highest number of restaurants catering to each per capita.
