Construction Quality Manager recognised for overseeing delivery of quality sites across South Wales and South West
A Lovell employee who oversees new homes developments across South Wales and South West has been awarded a prestigious degree through the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Handover Quality Manager, Debra Borley is the second Lovell employee in South Wales to achieve a degree with the CIOB. Her commitment to delivering quality-assured successful developments was assessed over a three-year period.
The degree-level qualification is accredited to those with the highest levels of competence and professionalism, providing assurance to clients and other professionals procuring built assets.
Awarded by the world’s largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership, just over 50,000 hard-working professionals in the construction industry worldwide have received the qualification.
Debra was awarded her qualification during a graduation ceremony at the Clothworkers Hall in London by the CEO of CIOB, Caroline Gamble, and Christopher Chivers, Past President of CIOB.
In 2004, Debra began her career in construction with Lovell, where she worked for five years as a Resident Liaison Co-ordinator. After undergoing further training elsewhere in the industry, Debra rejoined Lovell in 2017 as a Site Manager.
Debra said: “It feels wonderful to be recognised by the CIOB for my work. For me, that was a personal goal.
“I wanted to be productive throughout lockdown, and I saw it as a great time to work towards my qualification. I didn’t want that time to go to waste and I wanted to achieve something big.
“Lovell financially supported my decision to pursue my membership and degree with the CIOB and have been very supportive along the way.
“I feel very proud to work for an excellent developer which offers great opportunities to its employees.”
James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “We are thrilled to hear the news of Debra’s wonderful achievement. It is very well deserved and a true testimony of her dedication to ensuring high standards of build and service at our developments.
“At Lovell, it is important to us to support our employees however we can. There comes a great sense of pride in seeing excellent professionals like Debra thrive in their work, and we are looking forward to helping more employees along their career paths.”
