Prince Philip’s Hospital Radio – Radio BGM is gearing up to spread festive cheer this December with a 30 hour marathon broadcast.
The show which will air between 9am on December 21st and 3pm on December 22nd will be presented by two volunteer presenters– Alessandro and Duggie, with the aim of raising money for the station.
The marathon show, which will see both presenters broadcast non-stop for 30 hours, is promising to provide a unique and exciting listening experience for audiences.
Speaking about the marathon show, presenter Alessandro said: “After a very successful 28 hour broadcast two years ago, it’s great to be back but this time with company. We both can’t wait to get started and we can certainly promise our listeners a great deal of excitement and many surprises along the way.”
Fellow co-presenter Duggie added: “We’re extremely grateful to all those who have sponsored and supported the broadcast so far, making it our biggest ever!”
The marathon broadcast follows what has been a very difficult year for Radio BGM owing to the Pandemic. The station which broadcasts 24 hours a day to the Prince Philip Hospital and online has been significantly impacted by the ability to have presenters physically in the studios due to lockdown restrictions and social distancing.
Chairman, David Hurford said: “After what has been a very difficult time for us at Radio BGM, we are delighted to be able to welcome back live shows from our home in the Prince Philip Hospital. We’ve been fortunate throughout the pandemic that many of our presenters have been able to continue broadcasting remotely from home, however we have been very limited by the amount of live shows we have been able to broadcast from the studios itself.
“The marathon broadcast is a staple in our yearly calendar and it gives me great pleasure to be able to welcome it back this year after missing out in 2020. I’m sure both Dug & Alessandro will put on a great show, and we would encourage staff, patients and listeners within the community to get involved online and on social media.”
The show, which will come to a conclusion at 3pm on December 22nd , will launch the annual Christmas Broadcast, a further two days of shows on air daily between 7am and 10pm, featuring many of the regular on air presenters from the station.
