Mumbles Rangers their suffer first defeat of the West Wales Premier League Season.

Penlan AFC 4 – Mumbles Rangers 1

Probably the best spell that Rangers took place in the first fifteen minutes of this game played at Mynydd Newydd playing fields the home of Penlan AFC.

Mumbles Rangers Captain Chrissy Allen latched onto the ball wide on the right hand side and managed to win the foot race against the advancing Penlan goalkeeper Marcus Collins. Allen drove the ball forward and then played the ball across the Penlan area where his Rangers strike partner Elliot Smith was on hand to slot the ball into an unguarded Penlan goal net. 0-1

Penlan upped the tempo and in the 24th minute Penlan got their equaliser when Luke Dalling had an assist in setting up Sam Lewis to score from a shot that deflected passed Rangers keeper Callum Andrews. 1-1

The referee was being kept busy as tackles were flying in. Penlan picked up three yellow cards in the space of six minutes!

On the stroke of half time Rangers conceded a penalty when Andrews was adjudged to have fouled the Penlan striker in his area.
Penlan’s Luke Edwards stepped up and scored from the penalty spot. 2-1

Penlan strengthened their grip on the game in the 54th minute when Liam Otten set up Nathan Lewis for Penlan’s third goal of the game. 3-1

Mumbles tried to get back into the game in difficult playing conditions. Penlan were now dominating play and substitute Carl Mucha put the game to bed in the 83rd minute by scoring Penlan’s fourth goal seven minutes from time after another assist from Luke Dalling.
A good win for the home team and disappointment for the visitors at losing their unbeaten tag!
