Small Sustainable Welsh Brand joins the Big Brands in their pledges for Net Zero by 2050.

Award winning sustainable lifestyle brand Onesta has risen above the army of other small companies who have pledged through the SME Climate Hub to cut their carbon emissions by 2050 as a hand-picked, commended finalists in the Heroes of Net Zero competition. With coal and fossil fuel use being a key negotiation point in the recent COP26 conference it is clear that small businesses have a huge role to play.  Not only was Onesta highly commended for their actions at the Hero of Net zero awards, but founder Gabriella Diana was asked to speak at a panel discussion at COP26 alongside influential figureheads working within the climate change initiative.

Gabriella’s key message is that only collectively can we achieve the goals set out, and this includes large and small businesses working together. Tackling climate change is a huge mission and it can appear daunting to small businesses, but Onesta is evidence that a small brand can make a big difference. Celebrating their first birthday on the 1st of December they have proven themselves to be true to their ethos and have been recognised for it again and again.

From the company’s inception, sustainability and positive impact has been at the forefront of every decision. Making choices that protect the people within their supply chain as well as the planet, they hope to make a difference within the fashion industry. Not compromising sustainability for style or profit every element of their product is chosen carefully. There are some parts of the business that they are especially proud of such as donating 2% of revenue to charity and also working collaboratively with Surfers Against Sewage by up-cycling their fabric waste to make reusable makeup pads and donating to the ocean recovery initiative.

Not only are they a Hero of Net Zero but they are also the current Marie Claire Sustainability Award Winner for Best Sustainable Small Brand. Marie Claire Fashion Editor Penny Goldstone has stated that:

“For such a young company it has achieved a lot, especially when it comes to giving back to its community in South Wales, creating jobs where they have previously been outsourced abroad. We love the small runs and the made-to-order feature for inclusivity.”

Other awards that have recognised the efforts of the small Welsh business include the Wales Start Up Awards and the UnLtd Awards which really highlights Gabriella’s passion for doing good. What started as a sustainable clothing brand has blossomed into a business committed to helping as many people as possible, not just the planet. From ocean recovery to helping disadvantaged people find work, there are many causes that Onesta is passionate about supporting.

About Onesta: Founded in 2020, Onesta is a Wales based clothing company on a mission to lead a movement of consumers who are committed to changing the fashion industry for the better. Onesta shows people that knowing where their clothes came from, what they’re made of and who made them is important. Its products are ethically made in Wales from sustainable, innovative fabrics crafted from nature, and 2% of every sale is donated to charity. Made up of a team of people who love fashion but don’t believe it should come at the expense of the planet or humanity, Onesta is a place of style and substance, never sacrificing one for the other. Its core belief is in the name itself – Onesta, meaning honest. Merely at the beginning of its journey, Onesta is set to become a national leader in the movement of ‘doing fashion differently’.
