Neath Port Talbot Council urges people to join in the latest stage of its Let’s Talk campaign

We’re better together so join us on the next stage of our conversation to shape the future of NPT

Neath Port Talbot Council is urging residents to get involved in helping the area recover from the Coronavirus pandemic by getting involved in the next phase of its Let’s Talk campaign.

Over the summer, the council engaged with residents online, at events and in the community, to ask them what matters most to them, to help inform its plans for recovery from the pandemic.

More than 1,700 people took part, and the result is a Draft Recovery Plan, which will be published soon.

Subject to approval by Cabinet members at their meeting on the 5^th January 2022, residents will soon once again be asked for their views, to give feedback on the draft plan to round off what has been a truly collaborative process to shape Neath Port Talbot’s recovery.

Residents are being urged to sign up to the Let’s Talk database now at www.npt.gov.uk/letstalk to ensure they are a part of the conversation.

The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Ted Latham, said: “The impact of Covid-19 meant that during 2020 and 2021 we were faced with many challenges and new ways of working. But we rose to those challenges by embracing digital technology and working with some amazing community groups and volunteers.

“It was a real team effort.

“Neath Port Talbot has never been lacking in community spirit, but we now have a unique opportunity to harness our new-found sense

of community. Working together, we can build a better future for everyone through supporting the local economy, connecting communities, and promoting health and wellbeing.

“During the summer, we asked you to tell us what matters most to you, to help inform our plans for recovery. We listened, and we’ll soon share our draft recovery plan with you so we can move forward together.

“I urge you to get involved in the next stage by signing up to be part of that conversation, so we can move forward together, because as the last couple of years have shown, we are better together.”

As well as encouraging people to sign up to the conversation on the Draft Recovery Plan, the ‘Let’s Talk’ campaign is also all about celebrating how the communities of NPT have rallied together and how the council, its partners, volunteers and NPT residents and businesses have supported each other through the most challenging of times.
