Ultrafast broadband is coming to town as Milford Haven and Johnston become next to join Ogi’s network
Wales’ own broadband company Ogi bring their multi-million pound full fibre network to the Pembrokeshire towns of Milford Haven and Johnston
- Milford Haven and Johnston join other communities in Pembrokeshire, including Haverfordwest, who are already benefiting from top speeds.
- Milford Haven and Johnston will become the next historically ‘harder to connect’ communities to join the growing Ogi network, seeing investment of £5 million.
- Ogi are offering speeds up to 17 times faster than the median speed currently available.
– Ogi, Wales’ fastest-growing broadband company, today announced their ultra-fast, full-fibre broadband network will soon be available to residents and businesses in Milford Haven and Johnston.
The engineering work, which is due to start this month across Milford Haven and Johnston, will create an all-new fibre optic cable network throughout the town. That means that homes and local businesses will very soon benefit from one of the best broadband experiences anywhere on the planet. This is just the start of Ogi’s mission to take their real full fibre broadband to the whole of Wales for better experiences, better opportunities and better lives.
Councillor Paul Miller, Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism, Leisure and Culture for Pembrokeshire County Council, said, “Fast, dependable broadband is essential for rural communities. We’re delighted to be working with Ogi on this initiative and looking forward to seeing the benefits to local communities.
“Residents and businesses in Pembrokeshire, like so many underserved Welsh communities, have not been getting the broadband they deserve, so that’s where the Ogi journey begins. Full fibre broadband provides a much faster and more reliable service than traditional services. Ogi is specifically targeting these areas, accelerating the pace of full fibre roll out across south Wales – and transforming the digital landscape for generations to come.
Ogi’s offering is ultrafast and ultra reliable – up to 900 Mbps. To achieve this the company has already laid 100km of cutting-edge fibre cables across south Wales. Today’s announcement marks the start of more engineering work to extend this network.
Ben Allwright, CEO at Ogi said, “We’re committed to helping every Welsh community build back better.” He added, “Everyone prospers when brilliant broadband delivers real opportunities, resilience and sustainability, and we have big ambitions to see Wales flourish. Milford Haven and Johnston are two new steps on that journey and we’re excited to keep contributing to a more connected Wales.“
