Biography of Irina Lobacheva

The future figure skater was born in a simple Soviet family, her mother worked as a gynecologist, and her father worked as an engineer. At the age of six, the girl was sent to the figure skating section. The baby was in her place. She did not complain, but, on the contrary, enjoyed playing sports. Then she began to go to training in Moscow, her day began and ended in the dark, but Ira did not grumble. And her first coach Ariees Dubinskaya highly appreciated the abilities of her ward and predicted a bright future for her. Irina began her way in figure skating as a single skater, but a serious knee injury barely put an end to her career. 

Then she retrained in less traumatic ice dancing. Irina had no luck with partners for a long time. The first – Oleg Onishchenko – at some point decided to quit sports and went into business. The next partner of Lobacheva was Alexey Pospelov, but he also did not stay in sports. Irina met her constant partner, Ilya Averbukh, at the age of 18. The Lobacheva-Averbukh pair was one of the brightest in ice dancing, they won many awards both in domestic competitions and in international ones, but the Silver Medal of the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 remained the highest award. After that, the couple announced the end of their sports career.

Irina took part in several seasons of the Ice Age show on Channel One. She now works as a figure skating coach at her own school.

Personal life of Irina Lobacheva

Ilya Averbukh was not only Irina’s partner in sports, but also her husband. Their relationship began as soon as they were paired. Young people rented an apartment and began to live together. But they got married in 1995 not out of love, but out of the need to obtain an American visa. Their union lasted until 2007, the news of their divorce became a bolt from the blue for many, because just three years before that, the couple had a long-awaited child – their son Martin.

For several years, the athlete met with her partner in the ice TV show, actor Dmitry Maryanov. They lived together, found an approach to each other’s children from previous relationships (Martin made friends with Maryanov’s eldest child , his son Daniel). According to the skater, if she then became pregnant, Dmitry would marry her. But he played a double game, meeting with a psychologist from Kharkov Ksenia Bik. The girl became pregnant, and Lobacheva, according to her, released Maryanov. They maintained friendly relations and communicated. The death of Dmitry Maryanov on October 15, 2017 was a terrible blow for Irina Lobacheva. She blamed Ksenia for his death and self-interest, who by that time had become the artist’s legal wife. On the air of one of the TV shows, the skater saidthat if Maryanov had stayed with her, he would have been alive …

After parting with Dmitry, Irina met for a year and a half with an entrepreneur who was seven years younger than his beloved. They planned to legalize the relationship, but the man suddenly died of a heart attack on the doorstep of the house in which he lived.

Also, a completely dark story is associated with the name of Irina Lobacheva. In December 2015, a man fell out of her bedroom window from the 14th floor . Was it a suicide or an accident against the background of strong alcoholic intoxication, and remained a mystery. The emergency happened when Irina herself was asleep, and she woke up because the room became cold because of the open window. 45-year-old Alexander Shumakov was found still alive. Six receipts from a pawnshop were found in the man’s pockets at once, according to which he pawned jewelry made of precious metals. The police are sure that the skater’s lover committed suicide due to serious money problems. But they failed to clarify the situation – Shumakov died 15 days later, without regaining consciousness.

On August 4, 2017, Irina secretly married a young figure skater Ivan Tretyakov – the age difference of the couple is 16 years. The spouses did not arrange a magnificent celebration, inviting relatives and the parents of their students to the ceremony. Lobacheva admitted that she and her husband plan to get married, and also dream of a common daughter.
