Responding to reports that house prices in Wales are continuing to surge faster than any other part of the UK, Plaid Cymru’s Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Housing and Planning spokesperson, Mabon ap Gwynfor MS, said:

“Plaid Cymru has been consistent over many decades in our demands for Governments to take action to resolve the housing crisis. Rapidly rising prices are a clear indication that demand is outstripping availability this is no more harshly felt than for first time buyers. Homes need to be affordable again for people in all parts of Wales.

“All the while houses remain out of reach for people who wish to remain in the place they call home, our communities suffer and those that have the language at their heart will be further eroded.

“The housing crisis is having a knock-on effect across all the communities of Wales, and through the Co-operation Agreement with the Welsh Government, Plaid Cymru will be able to take radical action to address the proliferation of second homes and unaffordable housing.”
