The Delivery Agreement for Neath Port Talbot Council’s Replacement Local Development Plan (RLDP) (2021-2036) has now been approved by Welsh Government.

Councils have a duty to review their LDPs (development frameworks) regularly and the process of coming up with a Replacement Local Development Plan (RLDP) involves a series of formal stages including getting Welsh Government approval.

Approval for Neath Port Talbot Council’s RLDP Delivery Agreement was obtained on January 11th this year so work can now start on implementing it.

The Delivery Agreement is split into two key parts:

The Timetable of the RLDP – setting out the statutory stages of the plan.

The Community Involvement Scheme which sets out how, who, and when the Local Planning Authority will seek the involvement and engagement of these stakeholders.

For more information on the RLDP and its Delivery Agreement please follow this link https://www.npt.gov.uk/29462 .

The first step in the process of preparing the RLDP is the Call for Candidate Sites. Between noon on March 1st, 2022 and noon on May 31st 2022 the council will be carrying out its “Call for Candidate Sites”. This is where landowners and developers and proposers get their chance to be a “placemaker”.

If there is a missing piece of the jigsaw in your community that could benefit from development or protection then answer the call and submit a Candidate Site.

The council will shortly make available Guidance Documents on how to submit a Candidate Site which can be found at: www.npt.gov.uk/29464

To provide further information, the council will also be holding two virtual WORKSHOPS which will go through the type of information it requires to support these proposals and when the information will be needed. The workshops are being held on February 14th, 2022 and March 28th, 2022.
