Research by casino experts Casino Bee analysed Google search data to reveal the most searched for nominees for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film, and Rising Star after the release of this year’s candidates full of surprises and apparent snubs.
‘No Time To Die’ is the most popular choice to win ‘Outstanding British Film’, despite not making the final cut for ‘Best Film’ after being a long list nominee, the film has been searched six million times in the past 30 days. ‘House of Gucci’ is the second most Googled nominee with 1.9 million searches this past month.
In the Best Leading Actor nominations, Daniel Craig, Will Smith, Adam Driver, Leonardo DiCaprio, Benedict Cumberbatch, Riz Ahmed, Cooper Hoffman, Javier Bardem all received nominations for the long list. However, after the Shortlist announcement, Leonardo DiCaprio is the most searched of the nominees in the category. Nominated for his performance in Netflix original ‘Don’t Look Up’, he has been Googled 4.5 million times in the past month alone. Benedict Cumberbatch is the second most Googled after receiving 1.7 million searches in the past month.
The most searched actress for the category of ‘Best Leading Actress’ is Lady Gaga. Her performance in the ‘House of Gucci’ has made her a top candidate for the BAFTA. She has received 4.9 million searches in the past month alone. There has been a lot of controversy over Kristen Stewart not making the final shortlist; and the study found she has received 3.6million searches in the past 30 days, which would have seen her being the second most searched ‘Best Leading Actress’. Emilia Jones, nominated for her role in ‘Coda’, has received 165,000 monthly searches, making her the second most popular candidate.
‘Dune’ is the most popular nominee to win the ‘Best film’ BAFTA, with 6.8 million searches in 30 days. The second most Googled is Licorice Pizza, with 6.5million searches.
The study found for the category of ‘Rising Star’ that Lashana Lynch, with 257,000 searches in the past month, was the most popular candidate to win—followed by Millicent Simmonds with 218,000 searches.
A spokesperson for Casino Bee commented on the findings: “It’s fascinating to see the excitement the legendary BAFTA Awards causes each year. Categories such as rising stars have predicted some of the world’s biggest stars of today, such as Tom Holland, Kristen Stewart and Shia LaBeouf. It will be interesting to see who wins this year, and whether the board goes with the most publicly popular nominees or not. ‘No Time To Die’ has been searched more in the past month than all of its rival nominees combined, while Leonardo Di Caprio and Lady Gaga are also way ahead of the other nominees when it comes to how often they are being Googled.”
The study was conducted by CasinoBee, which offers the highest quality casino comparison to ensure readers have the most worthwhile experience.
