Why we’re still fighting: a new video on legal aid for inquests

Dear Editor

We recently emailed you with an update on our Legal Aid for Inquests campaign, reporting the removal of the means test on some legal aid funding for bereaved people.

While we celebrated this success in the campaign, we also noted: the fight is not over.

We continue to call for automatic non-means tested publicly funded advice for bereaved people from the day of a death at all inquests involving the state and corporate bodies. Until this is achieved, our campaign is not finished.
So today we are launching new video by The Law in 60 Seconds, made in collaboration with Young Legal Aid Lawyers. It is a reminder of just why this campaign is so important, as bereaved people face continued injustice and struggle to access the support they need.

We thank you for your support in the campaign so far. Without this we could not have achieved the progress that’s been made.

Now we need your help to ensure the change goes further, and bereaved families have the access to justice that they need and deserve.

Today, possible changes in the law which would enact the demands of our campaign are being discussed in the House of Lords. We are sharing the video as a reminder of what is needed and why it is so important, to send a message to those in Westminster.

We ask you as a supporter of this campaign to help by sharing this new video to continue to spread the word.

Thank you.

In solidarity,
INQUEST
