Legendary rap group DE LA SOUL have announced their 30th anniversary tour ‘Celebrating 30 Years Of De La Soul’, set to take place across the UK in Spring 2022.Anyone up to date with modern music is aware of DE LA SOUL’s game-changing sound. Formed from Long Island, NY roots in 1987, the trio changed the landscape of hip-hop as we knew it. Now, for an incredible 30 years they have rocked us with inscrutable samplings, whimsically irreverent lyrics, social commentary, light rhythm, and laid-back rhymes. Not only are their musical innovations acclaimed and respected worldwide, but they paved a path for many alternative rap groups to come after them.
The group are known for continuously breaking musical boundaries. In 2005, De La Soul featured on the Gorillaz single, “Feel Good Inc.” winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Collaboration and later joining Gorillaz as guests on several world tours. Shortly after, they started work on their latest album “And The Anonymous Nobody”, which became the second most funded Kickstarter project in history, and featured contributions from artists such as Damon Albarn, David Byrne, Little Dragon, Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Usher, and Estelle. Breaking new ground and crossing genres, the album achieved critical acclaim, debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard hip-hop chart landing at No. 2 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart.Now, the group are celebrating over 30 years of success with their anniversary tour ‘Celebrating 30 Years Of De La Soul’. Set to take place across the UK in Spring 2022, the run of shows will see De La Soul at their very best, as they perform hits old and new, and deliver the same passion, creative flair and talent that has seen them dominate the music industry for over three decades.
