SWANSEA RETAILER HELPS TO LAY THE FOUNDATIONS FOR A FRESH START IN LIFE

A DONATION from a Swansea flooring retailer is helping a mum and her young son make a fresh start in life in their new home.

James Sutherland, of the charity Home-Start Cymru, told how the young mum plucked up the courage to contact them after becoming trapped in an abusive relationship.

The charity, which offers free, confidential support and practical help to parents of young children living across Wales who are going through difficult periods in their lives, found the mum and her two-year-old son a new home in the Swansea area and turned to Flooring SuperstoreĀ for help with furnishings.

As part of its support for local charity and community groups, the national retailer ā€“ which opened a store (itā€™s largest in the UK) on the Cwmdu Retail Park in October 2020 – was able to help carpet the home.

ā€œFurnishings help to turn a house into a home and when I told her that there was a company out there which willing to help with a carpet she was overwhelmed,ā€ said James.

ā€œIt was almost as if she had given up on the generosity of mankind. She didnā€™t think anyone would help or care about her, she was in tears.ā€

Home-Start Cymru is now working with the mum to have the young boyā€™s autism diagnosed so the family can receive effective support as they rebuild their lives.
ā€œItā€™s important to get the message out that no-one should have to suffer in an abusive relationship and that help is available,ā€ said Jam

Flooring Superstore Regional Manager, Nathan Pritchard, said: ā€œWe were pleased to be able to support Home-Start Cymru which does amazing work helping parents of young children who are going through a difficult time.

ā€œItā€™s nice to know that the carpet we donated has been so well received, and we wish the mum and her son the best of luck in the future.ā€
