- Sprintex wins design work for innovative new e-compressors
- Two new design programs to commence immediately
- Aeristech to pay Sprintex costs for the 2 design programs
- Collaboration for future volume production under negotiation
Sprintex Limited (ASX: SIX) is pleased to advise that its technology partner Aeristech Limited, a prominent developer of high speed and high power-density electric motor technology, has commissioned Sprintex’ e-Compressor division to design two innovative new electric compressors.
Ultra-high speed 4kW two stage e-Compressor
Sprintex will design a 160,000rpm ultra-high speed two stage e-Compressor capable of high-pressure output for advanced Fuel Cell applications. The 4kW air compressor will enable a denser oxygen-rich air feed to the cell stack, offering higher overall efficiency for a fuel cell than is achievable from current fuel cell technology.
Ultra-speed HVAC refrigerant compressor
The second program is to design an ultra-speed HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Condition) refrigerant compressor, suitable for varied domestic and industrial heat pump applications, but also intended for battery, motor and system cooling as well as cabin air conditioning in electric vehicles.
The unit will be approximately 8kw of input power, producing up to 35kW of heating capacity.
Contract Terms
Aeristech will pay Sprintex NRE (non-recurrent engineering) fees and initial tooling development cost of RMB524,000 (~A$112,000) for the two design programs, with a 50% deposit payable prior to commencement.
Design and validation work for both programs are expected to commence immediately and be completed within 12 weeks.
Collaboration for future volume production is under negotiation between Sprintex and Aeristech. The two companies have discussed Sprintex supplying Aeristech the developed e-Compressor.
