New research from lingerie brand Pour Moi has revealed the biggest bra trends for the year. The findings indicate that knitted and wool bras are going to be the surprise favourites for the months to come and bright colours are going to feature a lot in our underwear drawers.
Pour Moi analysed data from Google searches and combined this with internal data to see what the nation wanted to know the most when it came to boobs and bras and unearth the top 2022 trends.
Trending bra designs, colours and materials
Searches for backless bras have rocketed, with a massive 91% increase from last year. Also making the top five are bra tops, plunge bras and halterneck bras which suggests people are looking for new underwear for nights out as they get back to socialising. Backing this up, Pour Moi has also reported a 61% increase in sales for push up bras compared to last year.
As we get ready for the next season of Bridgerton to grace our screens (launching March 2022), it looks like the hit show may have influenced some underwear trends, with searches for corset bras up 28% from last year and balconette bras also seeing a 21% rise in searches.
With working from home looking like it’s here to stay, it’s unsurprising that bralettes, which are often non-padded and non-underwired, come in as the second biggest bra style with a 67% rise in searches.

The research shows that tonal colours are topping the searches in 2022, with brown and blush bras being popular colour choices, seeing a jump in searches of up to 60% from last year. With the Y2K trend taking over TikTok, it seems that bright colours like lilac and fuchsia are also in demand this year, with both colours seeing a 51% increase year on year.
These past few months green has been having quite a moment, with the popular Bottega green that fashionistas went wild for online taking over, from dresses to accessories – it was everywhere. And it looks like green is here to stay, with lime, green and khaki all making the top ten trending colours of the year.

Interestingly the bra material that saw the highest search increase was the ‘knitted bra’ with a 49% soar in searches, followed by wool bras seeing a 38% increase. This is likely in part thanks to some fashion trends over the past year, where comfort and style have collided and the knitted bra seen on the likes of Katie Holmes saw a surge of interest. Plus working from home has certainly encouraged people to opt for softer cosy bra materials.
