Explore Pembrokeshire in a ‘Home Away from Home’

The Pembrokeshire Coast is a stunning staycation location with something for everyone. You can explore the stunning beaches, lap up the history of its many castles, venture on a hike or two or just relax and take in the scenery.

With over 500 self-catering cottages across the region, Coastal Cottages has a home away from home for you to enjoy throughout your stay. With homes that accommodate couples, pets, families and large groups, they provide an ideal hub from which to explore Pembrokeshire.

Coastal Cottages has provided memorable holiday stays for forty years so they can help you to plan the perfect getaway – even providing a concierge service of advice, tips and local knowledge tailored for your personal requirements. The team are all local themselves and there’s nothing and no one they don’t know in the area. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

Explore Pembrokeshire’s Beaches

With 186 miles of coastline, Pembrokeshire’s guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to spectacular beaches. Yet, no two beaches are the same, hence no two days at the beach will be the same – Pembrokeshire has the perfect beach for your dream seaside stay.

Head to Broad Haven or Tenby for convenient facilities close at hand, try Whitesands for watersports and Newport (Parrog or Sands) for dog friendly beaches. Some are only accessible via the Coast Path such as Barafundle Bay and Swanlake Bay, whilst some have beach wheelchairs for hire making them accessible to all!

Thousands flock to Tenby’s North Beach year after year for the Long Course Weekend, whilst others prefer the easier swimming events of the Boxing Day and the New Year’s Day Swims. For one-of-a-kind experiences, especially for Harry Potter fans, make sure to leave a sock at Dobby’s grave in Freshwater West and stop off at Abermawr Beach during an extremely low tide for breath taking views of the sunken forest.

A National Park Like No Other

View on Tenby in summer day, Wales

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park may be one of 15 in the UK, but it is the only one surrounded by the sea on three sides and has so much on offer at every turn. Explore the incredible coastline, visit one of the grand castles or spend your days wildlife spotting for dolphins and grey seal pups.

Head over to Skomer Island, the only Marine Conservation Zone of its kind in Wales, famous for housing the largest colony of puffins in the country. Or Ramsey Island, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area which is managed by the RSPB who care for the several species of seabirds who reside there.

Embrace the local culture by planning a food tour stopping off for Welsh cakes, hearty bowls of cawl and freshly caught seafood or delve into a world of Welshness and discover the history of Saint David at the Cathedral in St Davids, the UK’s smallest city which is now named after him. For a few hours of retail therapy, grab your shopping bags and head to the high streets bursting with independent stores like Narberth, St Davids, Tenby and Cardigan.

No matter where you’re heading, whether you’re looking for adventure, exploration or simply, relaxation, then Coastal Cottages will have a home for you and can help you plan your stay.
