Neath Port Talbot Public Services Board (PSB) has announced the opening date for a consultation on its Draft Assessment of Well-being in the county borough. The consultation will open on Thursday 7th April and anyone wishing to give their views can sign up to receive a link to the questionnaire as soon as it becomes available using an online form at www.npt.gov.uk/PSBform.
The PSB is a partnership of local public and voluntary organisations from across the area that work together to improve the well-being of residents and the well-being assessment is a key activity in identifying priorities for the board.
Chair of the PSB, Cllr. Ted Latham said:
“The purpose of the Public Services Board is to help improve well-being in Neath Port Talbot by strengthening joint working across public services in the county borough.
“The well-being assessment is crucial in helping to inform the future priorities of the board as it captures the strengths and assets of people and communities and seeks to describe the challenges and opportunities Neath Port Talbot faces now and in the future. It is really important that we get this document right and we need input from people and organisations across the county borough to help us do this, so would welcome as much feedback on this draft as possible.”
Under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, each Public Services Board (PSB) in Wales must produce and publish a well-being assessment that outlines what well-being looks like across the region and what residents and communities want well-being to look like in the future.
The Neath Port Talbot draft assessment considers well-being in the context of four themes – social, economic, environmental and cultural. It has been informed by engagement with residents and stakeholders, together with other information such as data, evidence and research to gain an understanding of the current situation as well as how to plan for the future.
Cllr. Latham continued:
“The feedback provided will help us to finalise the Well-being Assessment, which will be published in June 2022. Once this is done, the PSB will update its Well-being Plan that sets out our priorities, how we will achieve these priorities and how local people and organisations can get involved.”
The PSB’s statutory partners are Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Swansea Bay University Health Board, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Natural Resources Wales, and a number of other public service and partner organisations are also represented. Further information on the work of the PSB is available at: www.nptpsb.org.uk or by contacting psb@npt.gov.uk.
