‘The military invasion of Ukraine in recent weeks is deeply disturbing and we are witnessing a humanitarian crisis in Europe which is worsening by the day.

‘As Commissioners and Ombudsman, we welcome the commitment of the First Minister to make Wales a nation of sanctuary for people from across the world. Wales has proud history as an open and welcoming country and we will support efforts across our public services to ensure that the human rights duties we have as a nation are fulfilled, and that people who find refuge here can make a positive contribution to Wales now and in the future.’

Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales

Sally Holland, Children’s Commissioner for Wales

Heléna Herklots, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales

Gwenith Price, Acting Welsh Language Commissioner

Nick Bennett, Public Services Ombudsman for Wales
